Cinematic Video Production - Don't Wake Up

Bishop Burton, East Riding of Yorkshire

This is one from the early days of VIP, however the memories are still fresh. As most of our stories start, we are faced with an alarm that goes off in the early hours of the morning, in darkness.

4am and a car boot weighed down with Arri lights the size of car wheels and zombie prosthetics packed in suitcases for the the days filming ahead. It’s a good job we had no prosthetic body parts and had been pulled over, otherwise there would have been a lot of explaining to do!

We took the quiet roads to the Altisidora pub in Bishop Burton, the occupants of the car still half asleep and waiting for the caffeine to kick in. With only a limited amount of time, our freshly assembled team of makeup artists, zombie extras from around the UK, actors, lighting technicians, camera operators and sound engineers would have to work fast before we put the locals off of their dinner. But that’s the easy part! Keeping a well planned and briefed team together is what we do best. We believe planning and preparation, especially when it comes to a large team is a vital part to a successful outcome.

As the morning went on, we knew how time was passing with the steady flow of traffic passing the pub, occasionally slowing down to catch a glimpse of our outdoor lighting rig and the occasional zombie silhouette being beaten with a bat or a sugar glass gin bottle. Disclosure; no zombies died during filming!

Needless to say, we always have a lot of fun when we are filming, no matter the time, weather or scale of a job, but ALWAYS maintain professional. Even if sleep deprived and faced with a hoard or flesh eating extras!
